Conrad Martens’ Sketchbooks While Aboard HMS Beagle with Darwin

The Cambridge Digital Library has just released online the two sketchbooks Conrad Martens filled while sailing with Darwin on the HMS Beagle between 1833 and 1834. These books are a small portion of the massive Darwin Manuscripts collection online at Cambridge. For those intrepid souls, three other large Darwin projects can be consulted: the Darwin Manuscripts Project at the American Museum of Natural History, the Darwin Correspondence Project underwritten by dozens of scholarly organizations, and Charles Darwin’s Library found at the Biodiversity Heritage Library.
